As part of the 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference

"Building Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities"

Workshop: Wednesday, August 28, 2019

Venue: Salt Lake City Palace, Room 151 DEF, Salt Lake City, Utah

Time: 10:00 - 11:15 am

I was very honored to participate in a workshop where we discussed some of the unintended consequences of our great goals, and to introduce some of the problematic side of the technologies we so rely upon to achieve those goals.  My particular focus was on the prevalance of wireless communications in our day to day lives, as well as in our plans to mitigate climate change.  I particularly wanted to emphasize the importance of free and independent science to the health of our communities.  In a world dominated by business interests this seems to have become an impossiblity.  To view the paper please visit: http://www.turkishlibrary.us/how-to-protect-independent-science-and-ensure-our-innovations-are-in-tune-with-our-health-and-human-rights/

HISTORIES AND MEMORIES

INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST

Art Reception JANUARY 24, 2017 4-6 pm

Israeili Couple, UN                                                                                                                        © Julie Mardin 2014

I am very happy that 'Israeli Couple, UN' came back safe and sound from the Berlin Foto Biennale and will get a second showing at Indiana University East, at an exhibit there titled “Histories and Memories," juried by painter Joshua Hagler.

If there might be anyone who lives in the area please do consider stopping by.  I will try to make it over as it is an intriguing show.  I am very humbled to be amongst such interesting artists and to have been selected by such a thoughtful juror.  You can have a look at the work from the exhibit and read the juror’s thoughts at the link below.
